That's more like it!

That's how you make a car commercial! I don't care how you feel about the styling of the 2015 WRX, this commercial just makes me want one so bad. Just listen to that growl!

Ok, I normally HATE when people make comparisons like this, but this looks like the 2014 Corolla. I'm extremely bored by the looks of this car.

Oh wow....you're so totally right!

Red

4 doors

Headlights and tailights

Black tires

Body colored mirrors

Fog lights

Trunk

Red

Bad inside grill

Fucking copycats...

The technology is very impressive and a nice 'enthusiast' commercial, but holy cow that looks like a Corolla playing in the dirt.

And you know what, that commercial made no mention of "professional driver, closed course", so you know what that means.... Subaru promotes hooning! Thats the subaru i love.

(it may be the best wrx ever, but its still the ugliest wrx ever)

People have ALWAYS hated on each gen of the WRX when it came out, calling it ugly. I'm waiting for the same thing to happen here.

Saw this the other day, props to the car makers that include actually exhaust notes in commercials (8/10's of what I'm looking to here from a new car).

I wonder how these will sound with a tasteful aftermarket exhaust.

haha come on man! I'm not saying they're 100% similar, but the new WRX is just a little too bland for my tastes

I already called it ugly. Desu wasn't pleased.

Good eye, I hate seeing those disclaimers. I feel as though we should never include those disclaimers and thin out the herd with anyone who crashes their car because of a commercial.

I remember the same thing being said about this:

Kinja'd!!!

Which, btw, is the actual ugliest WRX ever made. The 2015 version looks like a sex-wagon in comparison.

Also, I'm sure you remember 'the pig snout from way down':

Kinja'd!!!

Not exactly a pageant winner either.

Then you have ol' blob eyes, the frumpiest thing since your lunch lady tried dressing nice for you that one Valentine's Day:

Kinja'd!!!

And of course..."What the fuck is up with that Dodge Neon?":

Kinja'd!!!

Face it, no WRX since the GC8 chassis has ever really been all that remotely attractive in stock form. Every time a new WRX comes out, everyone accuses it of either being ugly, looking like [insert boring economy car], or both. It's a bandwagon with the added effect of giving the riders amnesia between rides.

So let me lay out how I feel about the 2015 WRX's styling:

Is it inspiring? No.

Is it beautiful? No.

Is it going to win any awards? No.

Is it revolutionary in any way? No.

Is it ugly? No.

Is it competently designed? Yes.

Is it aggressive enough to belie the sporting nature to those able to appreciate said sporting nature? In my opinion, yes.

Is it aggressively styled enough to land you a speeding ticket while parked in front of a Big Lots? No.

Is it styled with enough rice to feed a sumo wrestler? Thank God no.

Is it a sleeper? As far as I'm concerned? Yes.

Do I like that? Yes.

Do I really give a shit if it happens to bear a passing resemblance to some other 4-door sedan? Nope, not one bit.

You've got a point. Not every WRX is particularly attractive, though I think the hatchbacks do look better. Maybe when I see one of these in person I will like it more. I was underwhelmed by the design of the new Cherokee until I saw one in the wild last week. I got a good look at it and the design is slowly growing on me. Hopefully it happens with the WRX cause I really want to like it.

I'll agree with you on the hatchback thing. The new Impreza sedan is nothing to look twice at, but the hatchback version just looks fantastic in my opinion. I'm really hoping they eventually release a 5-door version of the new WRX...

I hate stuff like this too, but Subaru has really lost their way. The Impreza and Legacys from the early/mid 2000's looked great and unique, but the last few gens just look like nothing special. Just look at those awful little taillights.

No Subaru with the exception of the Baja and the BRAT, and maybe the hawk-eye Impreza, which happens to be the ugliest one to date, has ever looked unique. And there especially hasn't ever been a unique looking Legacy. Everyone who says that is out of their mind.

Subaru hasn't lost their way. They're still making active lifestyle vehicles and bland, pedestrian cars that sometimes get the boy racer treatment. Nothing's changed, clearly, as this seems to be the very same discussions people have anytime a new WRX is released.

"Oh, it's ugly/dull! The previous generation was the best. Subaru's lost their way!" Sorry, but the GC8 looked like a Corolla, too, friends.

Best performing WRX ever? Isn't it slower than the outgoing WRX?

Kinja'd!!! Desu-San-Desu > Justino6969

First: How do you figure that?

Second: There's more to performance than just 0-60 times. Straight line speed isn't the only measure of performance.

5.1 seconds versus 4.7 seconds, primarily due to having a 6th gear in the 2015 version, thus shorter gear ratios, meaning an extra shift on the way to 60mph.

Personally? I'd much rather have the 6th gear and other host of improvements than an extra .4 seconds faster 0-60 time.
